The structural approach to design work meets the requirements of modern society which has been based on market economy and industrial production for more than 200 years now.  It implies optimizing costs of design and construction. Optimizing means decomposing a building into functional blocks, decomposing blocks into standard structural elements and organizing the latter according to certain spatial principles. The idea of optimization involves striving to reduce to one the number of standard elements and the number of their disposition systems.

Aesthetics. The architect has moved from his “personal” creativity to a “collective” one, from searching for one unique form to searching for a universal structure, from the personal poetry to the poetry of life.

Rationality. The choice of material – corrugated cardboard – and the industrial way of producing boxes are consistent with the short life of projects and low budget. One of the goals of the event is to develop the meaningfulness of actions. By working on an abstract composition every participant demonstrates his way of thinking. By describing his own actions and analyzing the actions of others, one develops the generally accepted objective criteria for evaluating architectural designs.
